2009 Vodafone McLaren Mercedes: fifth in the drivers' championship (49 points, two wins - in Hungary, and Singapore). After an uncompetitive start to the season, the team’s engineers unlock the car’s potential mid-season and Lewis takes victories in Hungary and Singapore.  He continues to fight competitively until the end of the season, taking pole position at the last race of the year in Abu Dhabi adding to his total tally of four pole positions and five podium finishes.
